No other composer took the symphony to such extremes – length, size, and emotional depth – so to hear Gustav Mahler’s First is to hear orchestral music itself being reborn. From its most tender moments to its bombastic and thrilling conclusion, it’s a musical experience unlike any other. Complementing it are Felix Mendelssohn’s witty and delightful Concerto for Two Pianos, played by astonishingly talented twin sisters Michelle and Christina Naughton, and an appropriately titled barnstormer by our 2019/20 Composer-in-Residence, Matt Browne.
