Nature & Community on the McKenzie River: An Evening with Barry Lopez
Location: Soreng Theater
Presented by McKenzie River Trust
Barry Lopez, the acclaimed writer, explorer, and long-time McKenzie River valley resident, will read and reflect on his life-long study of the natural world and human culture. Lopez received the National Book Award for his work Arctic Dreams, was honored with the Award in Literature from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, and was the recipient of Guggenheim, Lannan, and National Science Foundation fellowships, and other honors.
In 2008, Lopez received the C.E.S. Wood Distinguished Writer Award at the 22nd Annual Oregon Book Awards in recognition of his enduring, substantial literary career as an Oregon author. Previous winners have included Ken Kesey and Ursula Le Guin.
This is a rare opportunity to hear from one of the greatest twentieth-century American nature writers and to lend your support for the McKenzie River Trust, in celebration of its 20th Anniversary.
